We offer biblical counseling, both to our members and to the community, free of charge. We also have a counselor training institute, Redeemer Biblical Counseling Training Institute.
Christian counseling—or biblical counseling—refers to a variety of different approaches to counseling. What we offer is sometimes referred to as “nouthetic counseling,” a term coined by Jay Adams, imported from the Greek noun nouthesia.
The biblical concept of counseling includes three basic ideas: confrontation, concern, and change.
“Nouthetic counseling consists of lovingly confronting people out of deep concern in order to help them make those changes that God requires.” - Jay Adams
We believe that the Bible has answers to people’s problems:
"All Scripture is breathed out by God and useful for teaching, for conviction,
for correction and for disciplined training in righteousness in order to fit and
fully equip the man from God for every good task." - 2 Timothy 3:16, 17
The Word of God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, is able to change people’s lives. The apostle Paul encouraged this kind of ministry:
"I myself am convinced about you, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of
goodness, filled with all knowledge, and competent to counsel one another." - Romans 15:14
